About the Internship
Over the summer following my sophomore year, I completed a three-month long internship at INL. During this period, I led a web project to simplify dataset uploads for applicable US national lab employees. The upload portal was designed in Figma and implemented using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Flask, and PostgreSQL. Through interviews with a number of employees who worked with the existing dataset upload tool, I created feedback-informed design changes. Most importantly, I added file uploads directly to the portal instead of a third-party application, making the process far easier to navigate. Additionally, with the use of autofill and account specific data, I was able to reduce form inputs by over 15%, streamlining the process further. I came out with lots of new knowledge about JavaScript, Flask, PostgreSQL, and the operations of a government agency.
